I feel it returning
Lazy afternoon cat naps
Sprawled out and tangled up in sheets that
flutter as the wind takes her time
Swaying through curtains toward my bed

Against the window
Bees drone on to the same sound
As the construction outside
Muted
ceaselessly lulling me into summer sleep

A glass of iced water slowly heats on the dining room table
The condensation taking its sweet time
Dripping down, collecting on the coaster
In my mind's eye I see Miyazaki's slug
Drowsily slurp up that stem

Somewhere I'm sure a cat yawns on the pavement
The sunlight comes in flecks speckling
My face and now I am swayed to
Sleep by the chimes
breeze and rhythm of life.
